Anonymous asked: Why do you find larger women attractive? To me, fat people seem lazy, indulgent and lacking in self-control, and seeing this epitomised in human form is a huge turn off. This is purely an opinion though, I would be interested to hear your response. Obviously personality-wise they might be lovely, but as objects of desire..?
So this ask has been sitting in my inbox for about 24 hours now. I just couldn’t be fucked to answer it so early in the morning yesterday, and for some reason, I think there’s hope for this anon. So let’s look at this line by line.
“Why do you find larger women attractive?”
I’m attracted to and reblog women of all shapes and sizes. A quick look through my blog should reveal that pretty quickly.
“To me fat people seem lazy,”
I ask why? Is it because you assume they don’t exercise? Well, I hardly exercise and I’m pretty skinny. Then again, who’s to say that just because they don’t go to the gym or play sports that they’re lazy. Perhaps they’re dedicated to their career and work 12 hours a day? Or they’re a single parent with three kids? Maybe that’s why they don’t play sports or go to the gym, because in some other facet of life, they’re actually quite dedicated. Not to mention, many overweight people are actually at the gym, working to lose weight, they just haven’t hit their goal yet. You could be judging somebody as lazy when in actual fact, they’re in the process of losing weight. Furthermore, why are overweight people the epitome of “lazy” to you? Why not drug addicts who don’t have a job? or 28 year olds who still live at home and refuse to pay rent? Or do their own laundry?
I question whether or not this is really a character flaw. I guess what you’re trying to say is gluttony, right? And in the literal definition relating to food. However, not all people who are overweight, have gotten that way through gluttony. For some it’s genetic. Another personal reference, and you’ll just have to trust me on this, I eat A LOT, and yet here I am skinny as can be.
“And lacking in self control.”
We’ve already established that some people aren’t overweight because of their eating habits but it is fair to assume that most people are, NEVERTHELESS, is over-eating really the epitome of a lack of self control? What about the men who beat their wives when they “get a little bit angry”?
“Seeing this epitomised in human form is a huge turn off”
This is the part that interests me most. In vague terms you have listed character flaws in the form of a lack of self control, gluttony and laziness. While I do not believe overweight people embody these abstracts, I can understand who those mere abstracts would be off putting. However, I would encourage you to look inwards, examine yourself, and your flaws. We all have them. I do. If you can’t accept someone warts and all, then I’m afraid you will be a lonely person. If you expect the same treatment from others, then you definitely will. Unfortunately you have displayed characteristics of prejudice with your ask, you have pre-judged all people suffering from obesity, but you know what… it’s okay because as we established, we all have flaws. This is just yours to work on. The open nature of the way you finished the ask gives me hope that you’ll move on from this view. But..
“Obviously personality-wise they might be lovely, but as objects of desire..?”
Don’t call women objects, man. Just don’t.
